So far I have been very impressed with this lens. ![]() With that said I recently purchased an off brand lens after weeks of research and test shots at the local camera store. ![]() So as with my guitars that I play I tend to like to experiment a bit with the other guys products. It tends to have issue with vignetting and chromatic aberrations which I have fixed in Light Room. However, the kit lens that came with it is only adequate to my eyes. I shoot with a Pentax K10 and I think it is a great camera. I am new to photography and I have only recently migrated to DSLR format and I am happy I did. ![]() There have been time when I have had to 'make do' with a lower quality lens (that I could afford) than not being able to make the shot at all! For example, I couldn't afford the Zeiss Mirotar 500mm lens at $2,800 but I could afford a used Yashica 500mm mirror lens at $200.so I make do! You might not be able to afford one of the top Canon L lenses.that is reality but there will be an option for you.and you can always trade up in the future if the opportunity strikes. I made a list of all the compatible lenses in my camera's mount of a particular focal length and then sorted the list by price! I immediately crossed off the cheapest ones (figuring that the quality would match the price) and I immediately crossed off the most expensive (figuring that top-quality, professional gear would be more than I would need) and then, I bought what I could afford! Sometimes, I found that the used market allowed me to get higher quality for a lower price if I was prepared to forego the original box. Feeding the family is one of the big ones and so I sympathize with your dilemma.Ĭertainly, if money is an issue (and it is for the majority of us) I have found the following approach produces satisfactory results.
